A few of our boys attended the recent Adventure Camp at Buffalo Trace's Old Ben Scout Reservation. In addition to camping, they got to swim, boat and fish, shoot archery and BB guns, learn fire building and basic first aid, and watch a fantastic campfire show! The Webelos even took part in the afternoon flag ceremony. The food and accomodations were great and everyone had a wonderful time. Here are some photos of our boys enjoying themselves immensely:

Once again, our annual Pinewood Derby was a smashing success! There were a lot of great cars and fast races again this year. And don't forget all of the fantastic car designs! Congratulations to all racers and winners for another thrilling event!

The BSA has issued an immediate recall of the Immediate Recognition Kit. This is a diamond-shaped plastic or vinyl “totem” that hangs from your Scout’s pocket button, with Wolf and Bear emblems and the words “PROGRESS TOWARD RANKS” (see http://www.scoutstuff.org/bsasupply/info.aspx?page=cskit for images and details).
We have not yet received return instructions. If you have one of these totems, please remove it from your Scout’s uniform IMMEDIATELY and store it in a safe place. We will let you know details about return and replacement as soon as we know ourselves.

2007 Early at Ellis a great success!

Many Scouts, siblings and family members joined Father Bradley and Father Shonis for this year's "Early at Ellis" event at Ellis Park. The boys got tour the track facilities, see horses being exercised, and even pet some massive Clydesdales.
After that, we all had breakfast and watched the famous Weiner Dog Races, where top-of-the-line thoroughbreds vied for the coveted honor of fastest weiner dog! We had several winners throughout the morning. Father Shonis and Sam Gibson joined forces, inspected the field and considered the attributes of each contender. With all of that inspired research, they couldn't help but pick this year's overall winner, Little Blazer!
All the boys had a wonderful time and loved spending some time with the Fathers. Best of all, the proceeds from the large crowd went to benefit Riverview School in downtown Henderson. Here are some photos from this year's exciting event:
